Trip to France 2015 - A Return to our Roots

As was mentioned in our previous bulletin, the year 2015 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Perron families Back to our Roots trip in September 1995. On this occasion, the Association des familles Perron d’Amérique is pleased to offer its members, their relatives and their friends a second trip to the land of our ancestors.

A committee consisting of members Normand (838), Bertha (869) and Gabrielle (313) has been established to organize this trip. The committee will contact travel agencies, tourist offices, town halls and chambers of commerce and will plan an itinerary enabling the three branches of the Perron family to discover or revisit their origins.

The land part of the trip will be made in a deluxe coach with a guide who will accompany the group from beginning to end. Our main priority will be the cities of Rouen, the ancestral home of the Dugreniers, and La Rochelle, the ancestral home of the Suires and Desnoyers. We will also visit Perron enterprises such as Château Perron in Lalande-de-Pomerol where we will enjoy a fine Perron wine.

In 1995, two commemorative plaques were installed honouring our patriarchs François Peron and Joseph Dugrenier. Is it not now time to render the same honour to our matriarchs?  This is one idea among many to explore.

To get a better idea of the interests of those who wish to join us on this trip, a survey is included. You can make copies of the survey form for your friends and relatives. The results of the survey as well as all pertinent information about the trip will be posted in future bulletins and on our web site.

Filling out the survey does not oblige you in any way.  It will, however, inform us as to how many people are interested in making the trip. As you know, prices are adjusted according to the number of people in the group. Two years is not too long a time to make the necessary reservations and to plan an itinerary that will respond to travellers’ interests both in genealogy and tourism.
