THE ASSOCIATION
Founded in April 1991 and formed according to the third section of the Loi sur les compagnies du Québec under letters patent of 7 May 1991, the Association des familles Perron d’Amérique is a non-profit organization and member of the Fédération des associations de familles du Québec.
The Association regroups more than 225 members. It is managed by a Board of administrators consisting of a president, two vice-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, and four administrators.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Association des familles Perron d'Amérique inc. pursues the following objectives:
- to document all the descendants in a direct line or by marriage, of the Perron ancestors;
- to make known the history of all the women and men who bore that name;
- to preserve the family patrimony;
- to prompt every Perron to discover their roots and tell their own story;
- to build up and publish our family tree;
- to publish our bulletin «Vue du Perron»;
- to organize regional meetings and nation-wide gatherings;
- to promote and encourage various activities;
- to increase and encourage communications as well as historical and genealogical exchanges between its members;
- to instill a sense of unity, pride and belonging amongst its members.
The Perron families have numerous descendants some of whom were pioneers in the settling of provinces, territories and states of North America.
In Quebec alone, more than 16,000 people bear that name with pride.
